Islamic Relief USA 2014 Annual Report
Islamic Relief USA
At Islamic Relief USA, we are humbled and grateful to have touched more than 10 million lives in 2014. Some past work came to fruition as ongoing work continued, resulting in a huge increase in the number of people helped—from nearly 3.5 million beneficiaries in 2013 to more than 10 million in 2014. The year was dominated by emergencies in the Middle East—a shortterm but devastating crisis in Palestine and the long, drawn-out agony in Syria. IRUSA donors supported more than two dozen projects in those two countries alone, plus additional work for Syrian refugees elsewhere in the region. These efforts brought relief to well over 2 million people.
Those weren’t the only emergencies this year. In the Central African Republic, IRUSA worked with Catholic Relief Services to provide emergency items like blankets and kitchen sets to displaced people, along with farm equipment and seeds to help families start over. Meanwhile, our donors provided psychosocial support to 7,000 children in Bangui.
