Rehabilitation of Primary Healthcare Centers In Fallujah – West of Baghdad
The fourth, fifth and sixth millennium development goal is to improve the health status of individuals. By 2015, the global target is to reduce by two thirds, between 1990 and 2015, the under-five mortality rates and to reduce by three quarter the maternal mortality ration as well as to achieve universal access to reproductive health. Women, men and children will be able to access quality primary health services. It seems this target is very detached from the Iraqi reality. The health system in Iraq is facing complex challenges and demands. The existing PHC units in Iraq have suffered tremendous neglect and under-funding during long years of war, UN economic sanctions and the current occupation, not to mention the internal strife.
